Celebrate Your Skin with Cellulaze
Cellulite is one of the most common skin conditions to have, and at Barry Lycka MD & Associates, we can treat it with Cellulaze.
What is Cellulite?
Cellulite occurs when fat deposits disrupt the connective tissues under the skin, which can change the appearance of the outer skin layer. This results in a dimpled cluster on the skin that some people compare to the look of an orange peel. It usually occurs on the hips, thighs or bottom, but can appear on the breasts, upper arms or belly depending on the individual.
The medical term for cellulite is edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy (EFP). Essentially caused by the shrinking of fibrous tissue cords that keep the skin in place, cellulite is extremely common in even the slimmest figures.
Who has Cellulite?
Cellulite is more common in women, but heredity, skin thickness, the amount and distribution of body fat, and age can contribute to more mild or severe instances of cellulite. Pregnancy, or living an inactive lifestyle, may increase the risk of developing cellulite.
Treating Cellulite with Cellulaze
Because cellulite is a cosmetic problem, there are no diagnostic tests for the skin condition. That’s why Dr. Lycka has found Cellulaze to be an effective treatment that is not performed by family physicians.
Cellulaze is a laser therapy technique that uses a minimally-invasive laser to level out the dimples and lumps caused by irregular fat deposits. The laser releases the fibrous bands that have been disrupted, stimulating an increase in collagen production for the skin’s depth and elasticity.
This procedure takes 1-2 hours depending on the size of the area being treated, and results are long-lasting, continuing to improve over 3-12 months.
