Neuromodulators at Barry Lycka MD & Associates
Here at Barry Lycka MD & Associates, we know a thing or two about how neuromodulators can give your facial muscles the break they need to smooth out unwanted wrinkles.
What are neuromodulators?
They are purified protein injections of botulinum toxin that are inserted into the skin to relax tense muscles in the face. They’re primarily used to treat wrinkles, fine lines, smile lines and crow’s feet. Common neuromodulators include:
By injecting a small amount of botulinum toxin into the muscle, we’re able to make the muscle relax and smooth out overlying facial creases. While these injections are only for temporary relaxation, the results are worth it, lasting approximately three to six months depending on the individual.
Common treatment areas include:
- Aging skin
- Crow’s feet
- Excessive sweating
- Frown lines and forehead lines
- Sagging skin
- Fine lines and wrinkles
Additional uses for neuromodulators
Botox is also used to treat excessive sweating, and other brands like Dysport and Xeomin can also be used to treat crow’s feet and migraine headaches. At Dr. Lycka’s office, we even use these products to treat blepharospasms.
What to expect post-treatment:
- Mild bruising
- Temporary weakness in the facial muscles
For excessive sweating, post-treatment results typically last about six months, so our clients tend to visit Dr. Lycka’s office twice a year to maintain their desired outcomes.
